WHAT IS THE ELIZABETH FORWARD STUDENT AID FUND?

The Elizabeth Forward Student Aid Fund (EFSAF) came into existence in 1962. The EFSAF is a non-profit corporation created to solicit and raise funds in order to provide undergraduate loans to deserving students. In 1992, the Board of Directors for the EFSAF dedicated the fund's existence to the memory of Dr. Frank R. Bondi who was one of the founders of the organization and served as its president for 30 years.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ELIZABETH FORWARD STUDENT AID FUND?

WHO MAY APPLY TO BORROW FROM THE FUND?

Any resident of the Elizabeth Forward School District regardless of age, race, sex, religion or nationality is eligible to apply for loans to complete an accredited undergraduate or post secondary program.

HOW MUCH MAY BE BORROWED FROM THE FUND?

The amount of a loan may vary depending upon the number of applications and the funds that are available, in addition, any one individual loan will not exceed $2,500. There is also an income limit of $75,000, plus an additional consideration of $10,000, per student enrolled in college.

HOW IS THE AWARDING OF LOANS DETERMINED?

The awarding of loans is based upon income, scholastic standing and character of the student as indicated by personal references. Such information is submitted to the Board of Directors whose decisions are final.

Please let me know when you have made these changes and if you have any questions. It is important that we make these changes ASAP as people will be getting the new application.

WHERE DOES THE FUND GET ITS MONEY?

The money to grant loans is obtained solely through donations and the repayment of loans.

HOW DOES ONE APPLY FOR A LOAN?

Click here for an application or obtain one at the Elizabeth Forward High School office or from Mrs. Beth S. Mills, EFSAF secretary, at (412) 384-6218.

Completed applications should be submitted to the Board of Directors at least 90 days prior to the anticipated need for the use of the funds.

HOW IS THE LOAN TO BE REPAID?

A payment schedule of the loan will begin IMMEDIATELY upon the student's graduation or the date that the student leaves the program of study. Loans must be repaid in full within five (5) years from this date. Loans are interest free during the undergraduate or post secondary program. Once payment begins, interest on the unpaid balance at the prevailing rate will be charged until the loan is repaid in full.

Parents/guardians of the student are required to co-sign the loan repayment note. The loan agreements and promissory note are signed at the Off ice of the District Magistrate, 05-2-26.

HOW CAN ONE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FUND?

Donations (which are tax deductible) are to be made payable to the Elizabeth Forward Student Aid Fund and should be mailed to the Elizabeth Forward Student Aid Fund, Elizabeth Forward High School, 1000 Weigles Hill Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Loan recipients, upon completion of the repayment of their debt, are asked to make annual contributions to the EFSAF in order to assist other worthy students seeking higher education.
