To Students and Alumni who wish to apply for a scholarship:

The scholarships listed below will be awarded to EFHS seniors and alumni in June 2012.

  1. Review the scholarships that may apply to you by reading the information in the first column and then the brief description in the last column.
  2. Click on the scholarship name to learn more about each scholarship and obtain an application for the scholarship(s) for which you want to apply.
  3. Submit your application(s) by March 31 at the High School Guidance Office.
  4. Contact your high school guidance counselor for additional information, if needed.
Students Targeted Scholarship Name Amount Brief Description
All Students The Bonnie Bashforth Memorial Scholarship $500 Applicants should provide evidence that he/ she challenges him/herself amidst obstacles while sustaining academic excellence and personal accountability, and applicants should demonstrate a financial need.
The Dr. Frank R. Bondi Scholarship $2,000 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra- curricular activities, community activities, and personal development and responsibility activities.
The Alonzo P. & Beatrice W. Clarke Memorial Scholarship $1,000 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence. This scholarship is intended for the quiet, unassuming student, who works hard, gets good grades, stays out of trouble, and needs help for college.
Penn's Woods Scholarship $1,000 Applicants must demonstrate a respect for the natural environment. Those active in Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, 4-H, or an equivalent youth group will be given the highest consideration. In addition, applicants should have a record of participation in extra-curricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, and/or community service, a record of sustained academic achievement, and demonstrate financial need.
Elizabeth Forward Alumni and Friends Association Scholarship $2,000 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities, especially community service.
The Bill Ryczaj Family Scholarship $500 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence, participation in extra- curricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, and/or community service. Students planning to attend West Virginia University will receive preference. Students documenting financial need will also receive preference.
The William E. & Louise Shank Memorial Scholarship $3,000 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence, leadership, and citizenship.
The Richard Simpson Scholarship $750 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and plan to attend an accredited technical/trade school, community college, or four-year college or university.
Students whose parents did not graduate from college The Peter F. Vaira Sr. & Mary Vaira Memorial Scholarship $1,000 Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence. This scholarship is intended for a first-generation college student--one whose parents did not earn a college degree.
Students who served their church The Soli Deo Gloria Scholarship (To God Alone Goes the Glory) $1,000 Applicants must be a graduating senior who has been accepted to study as a full-time student at a two- or four-year college. Applicants must exemplify strong moral character and devotion to God. Applicants should be honest, trustworthy, and have no history or reputation of drugs, alcohol use, smoking, or serious misbehavior in school or the local community.
Students who attended Elizabeth Elementary School The Timothy Petty Scholarship $500 Applicants must have attended Elizabeth Elementary School, a record of academic excellence and community service. Preference may be given to those intending to major in education.
Students who excelled in the special education program The Ann V. Malady Scholarship $1,250 Applicants must be a graduating senior who has dealt successfully with a learning disability and is intent on furthering his or her education as a full-time student at a four-year college or university or vocational institution. Applicants should have an IEP or equivalent assessment and a record of participation in extra-curricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, and/or community service.
Students who excelled in academics EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for Academics for Females $750 Applicants must have excelled in academics, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for Academics for Males $750 Applicants must have excelled in academics, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
Students who excelled in vocational educational EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for Vocational Education for Females $750 Applicants must have excelled in vocational education, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for Vocational Education for Males $750 Applicants must have excelled in vocational education, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
Students who excelled in visual or performing arts EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for the Arts for Females $750 Applicants must have excelled in the performing or visual arts, have a minimum 3.00 QPA, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for the Arts for Males $750 Applicants must have excelled in the performing arts, have a minimum 3.00 QPA, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
Students who excelled in athletics The Staff Sergeant Bryan Hoover Memorial Scholarship $500 Restricted to graduating seniors who were members of the EFHS Cross Country and/or Track and Field Team. One $500 to $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior or two $500 scholarships will be awarded to two graduating seniors. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities and community service.
EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for Athletics for Females $750 Applicants must have excelled in athletics, have a minimum 3.00 QPA, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
EFSD & T.D. Club Golf Outing Scholarship for Athletics for Males $750 Applicants must have excelled in athletics, have a minimum 3.00 QPA, be a student in good standing and demonstrate pride in their school, have participated in extra-curricular activities, and submit one letter of reference.
The T.D. Club Football Scholarship $1,000 This scholarship is restricted to graduating seniors who were members of the EFHS Football team during their senior year. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence in high school and be a well-rounded student involved in extra-curricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, and/or community service.
Students who will major in education The "Children First" Special Education Scholarship $500 Restricted to graduating seniors planning to pursue certification as a Special Education teacher. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and be a well-rounded student involved in school activities and community service.
Four Friends For Elementary Education Scholarship $1,000 Restricted to graduating seniors planning to major in elementary education (Pre K through Grade 8). Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and be a well-rounded student involved in school activities and community service.
Students who will major in technical or trade education Vinnie Delmer Memorial
Technical/Trade School Scholarship
$1,000 Restricted to graduating seniors intent on furthering their education at a technical/trade school for medical technician, electrician, mechanic, etc. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and excellent attendance in high school and be a well-rounded student involved in extra-curricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, and/or community service.
Students who will major in health-related field The Gracie M. Jones Memorial Scholarship $1,000 The award is for a senior or alumnus who is pursuing a career as a professional in a health care field, has a sustained record of academic excellence, and has demonstrated leadership and citizenship through volunteer service to others through scouts, church, community, school activities, etc.
Females who will major in business or healthcare The Marilyn House West Book Scholarship $250 to $500 This award is for females who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare or business. Candidates should be ranked in the upper 10% of their class and be an active participant in extra-curricular activities. Afro-American females will be given preference. Economic status will not be a determining factor for selection. Monies shall be used towards the purchase of books.
Students who have financial need and will major in law enforcement, criminal justice or one of the natural sciences The Phil and Betty Rendin $500 Applicants must be a graduating senior intent on furthering his or her education as a full-time student at a four-year college or university in pursuit of a career in law enforcement, criminal justice, or one of the natural sciences. Applicants must have a documented need for financial aid and a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities.
Students attending specific colleges The R. T. Long Penn State Scholarship $500 This award is for senior intent on furthering his or her education as a full-time student at Penn State Erie or Penn State University Park Campus. Applicants planning to study engineering will be given preference. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence, leadership, and citizenship.
Carol Jean Young McKenzie Westminster College Scholarship $1,000 Restricted to a senior who has been accepted or an alumnus who is studying as a full-time student at Westminster College. This scholarship is intended for the student who challenges him/herself, gets good grades, participates in worthwhile activities, and makes good decisions for personal satisfaction and accountability rather than public accolades. Students majoring in Secondary Education and/or demonstrating financial need may be given preference.
The Jon & Sandy Shank Endowed Robert Morris University Scholarship $1,000 Restricted to a senior who has been accepted or an alumnus who is studying as a full-time student at Robert Morris University. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and demonstrated leadership skills through extra-curricular and/or community service involvement.
