EFAFA SPEARHEADS DESIGN, PURCHASE, AND INSTALLATION OF
WARRIOR BANNERS--2005 |
|
|
A
picture of the banner appears at the left.
Each one is two feet by six feet and is made of red weatherproof canvas
with a black and white Warrior head and lettering. The A. G. Trimble Company
of Pittsburgh is facilitated the final design and manufactured the
banners. They were installed prior to
the 2005-2006 school year. The
cost of each banner, including installation, is $130. To help defray the cost
of this project, letters were sent to all of the EFSD booster organizations,
student clubs, PTO and PTA organizations, and many local businesses in the
school district asking for their support in this project. The response has
been enthusiastic and reflects the pride students, teachers, parents,
businesses, and residents have in EFSD!
The organizations and individuals purchasing banners during the
initial phase of this project are recognized below. With
the support of art teacher, Mrs. B. Holt, a contest was held among the high
school students to design the banner, with a $50 prize going to the two
winners of the contest, Angela Anthony and Holly Thompson. Because
of the overwhelming response to this project, the Alumni Association,
decided that a second phase will take place next year to try to place
additional banners near each of the elementary buildings. If
you are interested in finding out more about the project or purchasing a banner,
contact Mrs. Mika Long, 412-751-2440, or Mrs. Donna Carney, 412-751-0397. |
